theCancerJourney.org provides people with cancer and their loved ones an opportunity to ask an oncology nurse from the Oncology Nursing Society questions about cancer and its treatment via a blog. A nurse will approve, post, and answer appropriate inquiries within a reasonable amount of time, usually two business days.

Before submitting a question or comment to the Nurse’s Blog, please review our terms of service noted below. All questions and comments expressed in the Nurse’s Blog are those of the authors. By submitting a question or comment, you acknowledge that you have read and are bound by the provisions below. All comments and questions will be reviewed and approved by our Oncology Nursing Expert moderator and posted based on appropriate content and exclusion of personal information.

If you are not at least 18 years old, you may not use this service. In addition, it is most important that you understand the following:

TERMS OF SERVICE

General Description of Service

This service does not, and will not, provide information to diagnose or treat any medical condition or replace timely medical attention for any condition. Moreover, our service will likely take several hours or even a day or two to respond to your question. If you need an immediate answer or medically significant answer, you should call your physician or other medical professional. If you have a medical emergency, call 911 or other local number used for emergencies. Furthermore, you should always seek the advice of a physician with whom you have a doctor-patient relationship regarding any medical condition or treatment. You should not disregard, discount, or delay seeking the advice of a physician because of our service or any response from one of our nurses.

This service is intended to assist you in obtaining general information about cancer and the management of some symptoms related to cancer and cancer treatment. This service is also intended to help you in identifying resources that provide support to people with cancer and their loved ones. The general medical information may help you to communicate more effectively and efficiently with your physician and other health care professionals involved in your care.

Limited Scope of Services

The sole method of communication offered through this service is through the use of the Nurse’s Blog. In responding to any question or comment that you send to our service, our nurse does not intend to provide, and will not provide, healthcare services to you or establish a nurse-patient relationship with you. Any information provided by our nurse is not a substitute for medical diagnoses, treatment, or other professional health care services provided by or under the supervision of a physician with whom you have established a doctor-patient relationship. Our nurses will respond to your questions by providing only summary information on a subject or subjects, which may not reflect all recent developments or all material information about those subjects. Thorough consideration of any medical subject related to your circumstances can, and should, only occur through consultation with your physician.

Our nurse will not communicate with your physician or other health care professional that may be treating you. If you submit more than one question or comment, different nurses may respond to your inquiries.

CONDITIONS OF USE

You represent that you are at least 18 years old. You agree that any inquiry you submit will be subject to the approval of our nurse moderator. You also agree that any inquiry will not include any information or language which is obscene, defamatory, abusive, or fraudulent; will not infringe anyone’s copyright or other intellectual property or ownership right. You also agree to indemnify the operator of theCancerJourney.org, the ONS Website, the Oncology Nursing Society, and any of theCancerJourney.org sponsors against any liability, expenses (including without limitation attorney’s fees), and damages arising out of any claim based on your use of this service.

You should be aware of the following regarding the status of the information that you may include in your submitted comment or question. These facts may affect the extent to which you are willing to disclose information to us in your question/comment. By posting information, moreover, you consent to the following uses of such information:

The service provided on is site is to used as public information providing users additional insight in relation to the content contained within theCancerJourney.org website. The information displayed on the Nurse’s Blog will not include information that identifies you or any other person other than what is included in the original submission.

We will not disclose your identity to any person who is not employed by us or any successor to our business that is not under contract to provide services to us or an entity affiliated with us.

These Terms of Use shall be governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania applicable to agreements wholly made and performed in Pennsylvania without regard to its conflict of laws principle. Before seeking legal recourse for any harm you believe you have suffered from your access to theCancerJourney.org, you will gives us 30 days’ notice specifying the harm and 30 days to cure the harm after providing such notice. In the event that you believe you have been irreparably harmed by any cause of action relating to theCancerJourney.org, you agree to inform ONS in writing and grant ONS 30 days to cure the harm before initiating any action. Any legal action, suit, or proceeding arising out of or relating to this Agreement or a breach thereof shall be instituted in a court of competent jurisdiction in Pittsburgh, PA, and you hereby consent and submit to personal jurisdiction of such court, waive any objection to venue in such court and consent to service of process by overnight courier or express mail at your last known address. Any cause of action initiated by you must be initiated within one (1) year after the claim or cause of action has arisen or it will be barred.

These terms constitute our entire agreement and supersede any and all prior written and oral agreements or understandings between us related to our “Nurse’s Blog” service.
